Step inside one of Dublin’s architectural gems this Culture Night as Abbey Presbyterian Church marks 160 years in Parnell Square and celebrates the full restoration of its iconic spire.

From 17:00, visitors are invited to explore the building at their own pace with self-guided tours, browse a second-hand book sale, and take part in a fun treasure hunt for children — all within the beautiful surroundings of this historic church.

At 19:00, join historian Peter J. Clarke for a special talk: “Alexander Strain, Builder: His Life and Times.” Learn about the legacy of Alexander Strain, who arrived in Dublin in the early 1890s and went on to build some of the city’s finest homes. Known as a modest and charitable man, Strain played a vital role in the life of the city, serving as Chairman of Drumcondra Hospital, Governor of the Adelaide Hospital, and Trustee of Abbey Presbyterian Church. He passed away in 1943 at his home in Glasnevin, remembered as “an inspiration to us all.”

All are welcome for an evening of history, heritage, and community in one of Dublin’s most storied buildings.
