Faith and the Real World: Examining how faith in Jesus connects with the worlds we inhabit each day.

This year our ‘Summer Institute’ will take the form of an ‘Interactive Seminar’ on ‘Faith and the Real World” in contemporary Ireland.

Our focus will be what lived-out faith looks like in our everyday lives – at work, in the home, in our places of leisure or learning. There will be a mixture of lectures, workshops, and speakers from different “worlds of work” in Ireland including those working at home. The focus will be very practical and down to earth.

The main contributors will be Sean Mullan, Damian Jackson and Patrick Mitchel.

The title captures what these two days will be all about:

FAITH: thinking theologically about God’s heart for the world; reflecting on the call for God’s people to be a subversive community of the kingdom of God here on earth.

REAL WORLD: following Jesus in a complex, fast-changing, challenging and uncertain world; looking at a biblical theology of work with practical application to the worlds we spend our time in. God’s redemptive mission to the world is motivated by love (Jn 3:16). What then does it mean to love the people in your world?

These two days are for all Christians who are thinking about, and trying to put into practice, what it means to follow Jesus wherever you are.

Who For?

Every Jesus follower who wants to help others follow Jesus too! You could bring a group from your church to learn, discuss and apply this together in your own local context.
