FINDING CARE

Care is not just for times of crisis, we are called to care for one another as a normal part of Christian faith and witness. There are a number of relationships in which to give and receive care: marriages, families, friends, colleagues, special and professional assistance. In Abbey, and in addition to these, we have the Minister, the Elders, the Cell Group and some special carers. We would encourage you to take every opportunity to give and to receive care as a normal part of what it means to be human in God’s image and as a means of developing as a priest-king in the New-Heavens-and-New-Earth.

Child Protection

Sadly the issue of child abuse (and the abuse of vulnerable adults) has become a major concern in Irish society. To make matters worse the Church has been heavily implicated in this and many people are concerned about how safe it is to bring their children to Church. While we can never give a cast-iron guarantee that nothing untoward will ever happen, we take the matter very seriously and Abbey is obliged to function under national Child Protection legislation and under the Presbyterian Church in Ireland guidelines – ‘Taking Care’.
