C.S Lewis Lecture, Ireland

We are delighted to announce that the title and guest speaker for the CS Lewis Lecture 2014 will be:

The Battle for the Soul of Capitalism – Can Capitalism Be Regenerated? – James Featherby

Does globalisation need to be tamed? Can the financial services sector be made to serve the real economy? How do we change the culture of banking?  Starting from a positive view of the contribution that business can make to society, James Featherby will explore some of the changes in aspiration and action that are needed if we are to tackle these questions.

James Featherby has worked in the City of London for over 30 years.  He is chair of the Church of England Ethical Investment Advisory Group, having formerly been a partner of the big-five law firm Slaughter and May.  He is the author of “Of Markets and Men” which reflects on the financial crisis, argues for the compatibility of good values and good business, and sets out practical steps for reshaping the financial system. He is also the general editor of “Global Business and Human Rights”.
